The Brunswick River and its tributaries Marshalls Creek and Simpson Creek are part of the Cape Byron Marine Park and are a significant area for native birds and wildlife, migratory birds and marine life.
The sea grass areas are teaming with a variety of fish, turtles and other marine life whilst the beaches, mud flats and sand bars are a host for all types of coastal and migratory birds.
The mangrove areas are breeding grounds for crabs, oysters and fish.
