May is a beautiful time of the year in the Byron area!
Why: It's a quiet time with not many visitors around so all the amazing things to do in the Byron area are not crowded and it's easy to get around.
Also the ocean water is 24 degrees, still really warm and the whales are due. The whales are looking for warm water to have their babies in.
I have noticed over many years that the whales use the last of the warm water to make their way north quickly and stay in that warm water to avoid the cold southern water that comes in winter. It makes sense if you’re a whale, to want some warm water after just spending the last 6 months in the cold Antarctic waters.
May is great for cool nights and mornings with beautiful days, no humidity, plenty of wildlife and a perfect time of year for an Eco Rainforest River Cruise.
